Liz left Boulder at 6:30 this morning, under a cloudy sky.
June 2, 6:30 AM (MDT)
Unfortunately, she had to leave Tristan behind – although, with those pleading eyes, it was hard for her to leave. Little does Tristan know that when Liz returns, it will be with his third cousin, twice removed – little Izzie (make sure you open post to see pix!)
So, you can’t drive to pick up your RV, because then you’d have to leave your car at the RV rental place. And these days, you don’t want to get in anyone else’s car. But remember, this is Liz we’re talking about, so of course she biked to the RV rental place. Only 19 miles, far less than she often bikes on her almost-daily rides. And right down the bike path that parallels Route 36 from Boulder toward Denver. There’s a big hill right out of Boulder up to Davidson Mesa, but she figured it would be relatively easy after that. No such luck – several more big hills followed and, worried that she would be late to the RV place, she pushed it all the way there. Even so, she was 15 minutes late and called me to call the RV place to let them know. Of course, they were so busy working with other customers that they weren’t answering the phone – and even when she got there, our vehicle wasn’t quite ready. But all worked out in the end – as you can see below:
Liz is packing up in her typical organized way. Important things to bring in the RV: lots of gin from Fraser Distillery, long extension cords to plug in the RV overnight, a vase for beautiful peonies she’ll cut from her backyard, tonic syrup, seltzer maker. Lots of paper towels and Clorox wipes. (Open post to see an image of what’s coming with Liz!)
Neither Liz or I has written a blog before, so the first few posts are likely to be ugly. But we’re determined to keep family and friends up to date on our progress. What we know about our home-to-be so far is on this web site. Be sure to look at the “virtual tour” toward the bottom of the page.
